The Glittering Mystery of Palm Leaves

In the jungle, the day always began with the morning exercises of the Detectives. Kuba, in his most sporty hat, led the warm-up, dramatically shouting: 'A lion never gives up!’

After the exercises came breakfast—Patrycja crunched on cheese cookies, Zofia nibbled palm cookies, Kuba happily devoured steak cookies, and Alfred savored ant treats.

After breakfast, it was time for the jungle residents’ advice session. First came Parrot Patrycja (yes, she had the same name as our detective!). She complained that someone had painted her colorful feathers green. Then came Elephant Stefan—he grumbled about constantly losing his tail… Finally, Monkey Marta appeared, dramatically announcing:

'The jungle whispers! At night, the palm leaves suddenly shimmer, and I can’t sleep!’

Zofia was immediately intrigued. As a palm leaf enthusiast and high-altitude observer, she decided to investigate. She took Patrycja (who better than a mouse detective to slip through dense bushes?) and Alfred’s vial of fresh leaf scent, just in case.

When night fell, Zofia climbed the tallest palm tree. From above, she saw the leaves truly shimmering! Through a magnifying glass, Patrycja noticed something small moving between the leaves.

'Not ghosts!’ whispered the mouse. 'It’s… snails!’

Zofia drew a palm map, marking where the leaves shone brightest. Together with Patrycja, they reached the shimmering center—there, Alfred used his sense of smell to recognize the scent… of shiny snail slime!

It turned out the snails had organized a night ball, coating the leaves with a shiny flower sap. This reflected moonlight, creating a glittering spectacle.

Monkey Marta was delighted to join the ball—the snails invited everyone to dance. Kuba told a dramatic campfire story about the bravest snail in the jungle, and the rest of the evening passed with laughter and dancing.

From then on, when palm leaves began to shimmer, the whole jungle knew it was time for a snail disco—and no one feared the nighttime lights anymore.
