The Secret of the Vanishing Mangoes

In the jungle, every day began joyfully—especially at the headquarters of the Animal Detectives. At 7:00 AM, Leon Kuba, wearing his favorite yellow exercise hat, led the morning warm-up.

„Arms up, tails down!” he shouted dramatically, waving his paws as if leading an army into a great battle. „Only a fit detective is an effective one!”

Patricia, with her large ears and a magnifying glass at her belt, executed precise stretches, counting and memorizing each move in her mind. Giraffe Sophia stretched her neck all the way to the highest branches, and Anteater Alfred calmly did push-ups on his long snout.

After the warm-up, it was time for breakfast. Kuba munched on steak cookies he had baked using Alfred’s recipe. Patricia nibbled on cheese bites, Sophia delicately chewed on palm leaf cookies, and Alfred crunched on ant delicacies that smelled so good that even Kuba briefly considered changing his diet.

„Does anyone want another cookie?” Alfred asked, offering them to everyone.

„Always!” Kuba exclaimed, and Sophia added calmly, „A nutritious breakfast is essential for a thinking detective.”

Just as they finished, a distraught Parrot Paula rushed in.

„Help My favorite feather comb has vanished It was on a branch yesterday, but today… it’s gone!” she cried, flapping her wings.

Kuba instantly put on his serious and dramatic hat.

„A case of the highest priority!” he declared.

Patricia was already noting it down: „Parrot’s feather comb—mystery number 212.”

Before they could ask for details, Chimpanzee Simon jumped out from behind the bushes.

„Detectives, help Someone replaced my favorite jumping stick with a regular stick How can I train like this?”

Shortly after, Elephant Sawa puffed and panted as she arrived.

„Mango My beautiful mango from the plantation keeps disappearing at night Please, you have to help me!”

Giraffe Sophia raised her eyebrows.

„Disappearing mango? That sounds like a serious case to investigate.”

Kuba jumped with excitement.

„Team, it’s time for an expedition We’ll deal with the feather comb and the stick later. Now, we focus on the mango!” he announced, putting on his „advanced tracking” hat.

Patricia quickly wrote everything down in her journal: „Elephant Sawa’s report. Mango disappears at night. Plantation by the river.”

Sophia took out her pencil and drew the route on a map. They chose the shortest path through the jungle—between bamboo and thickets of thorny bushes.

„Watch out for thorns!” Sophia warned, leading everyone along a safe trail.

At the plantation, Sawa showed them the mango trees. They were beautiful, with only a few gnawed fruits lying underneath.

„I always count the mangoes in the evening. In the morning, some are missing,” she explained.

Patricia lifted her magnifying glass and examined the ground.

„A foot imprint… it’s strange, like it has three toes… Hm…” she murmured.

Alfred took a deep breath.

„I smell fresh mango… and something else. Nuts? And… honey?” he pondered, sniffing more bottles from his collection.

Sophia pulled out the map. „The nearest honey tree is across the river. Maybe the trail leads there?”

Kuba, ready for action, shouted dramatically:

„Jungle expedition Danger, mystery, and… mango await us Let’s move!”

Along the way, Patricia pushed through dense undergrowth. She found a small tunnel under a bush.

„Someone passed through here There are a few footprints… and a feather It might belong to the parrot, but it smells like honey,” she called out.

Alfred sniffed and led the team through the twists.

„The smell is getting stronger,” he muttered. „But here… something new. Someone ate a mango and left a nut shell.”

Suddenly, Owl Pancratius appeared with his head tilted to one side.

„What are you doing here, detectives?” he asked, yawning.

„We’re tracking mango!” Kuba replied.

„Oh, I saw a group of small animals carrying something last night. But they didn’t come near my tree,” Pancratius said.

Patricia noted: „Nighttime suspicious activity. Direction: honey tree.”

They finally reached an old branch where they found… fresh mango, a few nuts, and a parrot feather Next to it, in a burrow, three little Hedgehogs were sleeping, each with a mango under their paws.

„Mystery solved!” Kuba exclaimed, dramatically removing his hat. „But… how did the hedgehogs get the mango, the feather, and the nuts?”

Patricia looked through her magnifying glass and noticed that the feather had honey stains.

„It’s simple!” she exclaimed. „The hedgehogs, trying to get the mango, passed through the honey branches, and the feather stuck to their quills. They found the nuts under the tree and then took everything to their burrow.”

Sophia drew a plan.

„If we move the mango closer to the plantation, the hedgehogs won’t need to steal. We can have a mango picnic together!”

Alfred pulled out a vial with a mango scent.

„I’ll add some honey to the cookies. It’ll be a feast for everyone!”

Sawa was delighted.

„Thank you, detectives Now I know who’s been eating my mango. And I don’t have to worry about my fruits.”

Kuba put on his „case closed” hat and announced:

„Mango case solved Now, let’s have tea and a story by the campfire But that’s a story for another time…”

And so, the day in the jungle ended with a shared picnic at the plantation. The animals laughed, enjoyed mango and cookies, and the detectives were already planning their next investigation. For in the jungle, there were always mysteries to solve—and friends ready to solve them
