Ola’s Fairy Tale about the Chestnut Necklace

One peaceful morning, the animal detectives woke up bright and early. They stretched their limbs and started a quick exercise session led by Patricia, the Desert Mouse.

„One, two, three! Paws up!” commanded Patricia energetically.

After their workout, they sat down to breakfast, each enjoying their favorite treats. Alfred the Anteater munched on ant cookies with ant sauce—though everyone else stayed clear of that! Patricia enjoyed cheesy soup and cheesy pancakes with cream. Zofia the Giraffe delighted in bananas on palm leaves with ginger sauce. And Leo the Lion, as always, had his favorite steaks, this time extra salty.

Once breakfast was finished and everything cleaned up, they gathered around the table for their meeting. Today, Leo was the one to open the gate.

„Let’s see who needs our help today,” he said, stepping outside.

No sooner had he opened the gate than Mrs. Gazelle galloped in, often coming with various problems.

„Listen up, I have an important mission for you!” she called out, excited. „My friend is having a birthday and asked me to have you make the prettiest chestnut necklace for her. Can you do that?”

„Of course!” replied Patricia. „We will have two more meetings and then start on the necklace.”

„Great!” Mrs. Gazelle smiled. „Oh, and I have one small problem too. One of my patches on my back side tore.”

„Bring it to us; we’ll sew it up,” offered Zofia kindly.

„Thank you! See you later,” said Mrs. Gazelle as she ran home.

Next to arrive was Mr. Crocodile, looking quite unusual.

„Hello, Crocodile! What brings you here?” Alfred asked.

„I have a problem,” sighed Crocodile. „As you can see, my head, paws, and tail are very pink. Can you help me?”

„Sure,” said Patricia, quickly running to get a special dye remover. „Spray three times on each pink part. We’ll help you with your paws.”

„Lie down here,” she showed him a spot.

Crocodile obeyed. Patricia sprayed his paws, tail, and head carefully.

„Thank you so much! What should I do next?” asked Crocodile.

„Go home and pour a bucket of water over yourself. The dye should come off completely,” explained Leo.

„Thanks! Goodbye!” Crocodile said and left.

Last to appear was little Bunny, who hopped inside but not as high as usual.

„Hey, everyone!” he said. „I have a problem. Lately, I can’t jump as high as before. I can’t even jump over the little stream, though I always could.”

„I think I know what happened,” said Leo. „Where were you recently?”

„At the Badgers’,” Bunny answered.

„What were you doing there?”

„Jumping over the ground. When I returned, I realized I couldn’t jump over the stream.”

„That happens often,” Leo explained. „Muscles need training. You just need to start practicing jumping over the stream again, and it will get better.”

„Thanks! I’m off to train now!” Bunny cheered and hopped away.

„Alright, now we can start the special mission!” Zofia exclaimed. „We need to collect chestnuts and special thread for the necklace.”

„Yes!” agreed Patricia.

The animals hopped on their bikes and quickly rode to the forest. They gathered plenty of shiny, beautiful chestnuts and special thread used for stringing beads. When they returned home, they spread all the materials out on the table.

„Let’s make the necklace look like a crown,” suggested Zofia.

„Great idea!” Alfred said.

First, they glued colorful tissue paper on the edges and bottom corner of the necklace. Then Leo took a round piece of paper and glued a chestnut onto it. Patricia added a sparkling diamond paper cut-out with a curled lower corner. They attached everything to the thread.

Now it was time for the chestnuts. Each animal took their little basket and began to make holes in the chestnuts. Patricia, with her tiny paws, helped everyone who found it difficult. When all chestnuts were pierced, they started stringing them onto the thread.

When the necklace was ready, they tied the ends and looked at their work with pride. It was a beautiful chestnut necklace that shone in the sunlight.

„It looks wonderful!” Zofia said with a smile.

„Mrs. Gazelle will be delighted,” Alfred added.

The animal detectives went to Mrs. Gazelle’s house nearby. When she saw the necklace, her eyes widened with admiration.

„It’s gorgeous! Thank you so much!” she said, gently taking the necklace. „My friend will be thrilled.”

The animal detectives returned home with smiles on their faces. Another mission was complete, and they helped bring someone joy.

„You know what?” said Patricia. „Making presents for others might be the best mission ever.”

„I agree,” Leo nodded. „Especially when you see a smile like Mrs. Gazelle’s.”

And so ended another day full of adventures and good deeds.
